New masterbatch series for 3D print filaments
- 20 new colours for ABS and PLA filaments
- Unique: with laser marking additives, if required
- Live 3D printing at the Gabriel-Chemie trade fair stand at K 2016
24.11.2016: The traditional Austrian company Gabriel-Chemie is presenting its colour masterbatch product range for ABS and PLA filaments at K 2016 in Düsseldorf. The importance of this theme is taken into account with Live 3D printing at the trade fair stand.
The masterbatch range consists of 20 inspiring colours with innovative effects such as fluorescent or phosphorescent colours and metallic tones. High brilliance and colour depth and excellent temperature resistance - even with a low dosage - distinguish both polymers (ABS and PLA). They also have excellent temperature stability and some of the colours can be processed at up to 260°C.
ABS is one of the most common materials used in the FDM procedure. With its robust mechanical properties, the material is suitable for manufacturing prototypes and technical parts such as gears. PLA is considered to be a more environmentally friendly alternative to petroleum-based plastics as it is extracted from plant products containing sugar and starch. Gabriel-Chemie can also produce masterbatch based on other polymer carriers on request.
The masterbatch can also be refined with a laser additive by Gabriel-Chemie, if required. This enables especially high-quality and permanent decorations for objects produced in the 3D printing process. This option is currently unique in the 3D printing sector. Our many years of experience in developing and manufacturing masterbatch means that we are well aware of the potential interactions between pigments, additives and polymers. This knowledge offers the desired security when it comes to dimensional accuracy and process reliability in filament production.
The number of masterbatch providers for filaments in the Asian region is increasing. However, their products often come without any supporting documents containing key information on suitability for contact with food, UV stability, etc. Masterbatch of Gabriel-Chemie are produced in Europe in accordance with ISO 9001, comply with all standards (e.g. REACH) and are delivered with the necessary documentation and declarations of clearance. This ensures that the printed end product also meets the requirements of the application
